April Shower Sessions

We’re big advocates of long, hot showers. A good steam will soothe your muscles, clear your head and soften your stubble before that all-important shave. A great soundtrack will make the whole process a faster and more enjoyable experience.

Water is the source of life. It’s true. Up to 60% of you is water. Also true. Most importantly though, water is incredibly refreshing in the truest sense of the word.

It gives you strength and energy. It makes you feel new and stimulated and fresh once again. It should be the first thing you reach for and consume in the morning. You get dehydrated in your sleep, so before you grab that coffee or tea, pour yourself a tall glass of agua and drink it down as you turn up our playlist for April. The theme this month is Refreshing Water.

So it actually starts out with “Coconut (Water),” but remember: regular water is what you want to drink. There truly is no substitute. As you start your shower and step in, soothe yourself to the sounds of “Water of Love,” by recent Rock & Roll Hall of Fame inductees Dire Straits. This is an overlooked tune. But now you’re looking right at it.

Behold how water can take so many forms, from harrowing “Hurricane Waters” to the most peaceful “Waterfalls,” (a choice TLC cover by Meshell Ndegeocello). Remember that that’s true for the water inside of you. Fear neither the raging seas of passion nor the peaceful pools tranquility. Employ their powers at proper times and you will be good to go.

Think of how water can be either too abundant and then instantly scarce. You might have “High Water Blues” one moment, but “You Don’t Miss Your Water ‘Til Your Well Runs Dry.” Maybe it’s because “You Left The Water Running.” One minute you’re “Down By the Water” the next you’re “Flying Over Water.”

You might encounter “Dirty Water,” like Trombone Shorty or have to wash your hands in muddy water like Stonewall Jackson. So appreciate this moment now when you are getting yourself nice and clean.

Then to chase all of that H20 down, let Elton John and Jack White pour you “Two Fingers of Whiskey.”’

Because man shouldn’t have to live on water alone.
