A well-groomed monthly playlist to start your morning right. September’s theme: Endless Summer…
We’re big advocates of long, hot showers. A good steam will soothe your muscles, clear your head and soften your stubble before that all-important shave. A great soundtrack will make the whole process a faster and more enjoyable experience.
Carpe aestas. Seize the summer. If you are a regular reader and listener of our monthly Shower Sessions, you know that we strive to make your first step each day—your morning shower—a little bit more pleasant in hopes that the rest of your waking hours follow suit.
Perhaps our most common theme is to encourage you to live in the moment and make the most of each day. Never does that need a more urgent reminder than the waning days of summer. This September we encourage you to travel, to explore this great land ours and to spend some time in the great outdoors.
That’s right: we’re embracing the Endless Summer for this month’s theme.
September Shower Sessions: Endless Summer
Fire up the shower as you listen to Kris Kristofferson sing about “the time we never had the time to take.” Vow to yourself that you will take that time. Fellow traveler Willie Nelson will pick you up next with “Devil in a Sleeping Bag.” He may talk about the road being a drag, but he’s put on enough miles to earn the right.
You have a restless, young heart that should wander like the protagonist of “Georgia Sunshine.” Up to “Rocky Top,” and down to “Bear Creek,” far from smog and telephones and close to water that’ll make you feel drunk all the time.
Find a night to sleep “Out Among the Stars,” and don’t just get your hands dirty, get your whole body dirty with a “Red Clay Halo” for your head. (Ironic to be thinking about this in the shower, no?) Find some time around a “Campfire,” and equal time in the “Hard Sun.” Whatever the “Shape [You’re] In,” it will surely make you feel even better.
From the “Blue Ridge Mountains,” sing your “Highway Song” to the “Cumberland Gap.” Soak up everything you can and “Take it on the Run.” It seems a lot to cram into one month, but there’s still plenty of time to relax. It is the lazy season after all.
Should you need inspiration, look no further than the “Lazy Old Moon.”
