A well-groomed monthly playlist to start your morning right. July’s theme: British Invasion…
We’re big advocates of long, hot showers. A good steam will soothe your muscles, clear your head and soften your stubble before that all-important shave. A great soundtrack will make the whole process a faster and more enjoyable experience.
Good morning and happy July. We hope you had an enjoyable 4th and celebrated our Independence from British crown. Assuming you spent the week binge-listening to the collected patriotic marches of John Philip Sousa, we won’t need to start your morning off with spirited renditions of “Semper Fidelis” and “The Invincible Eagle.” If you didn’t, well, we assume that the stars and stripes live loudly and forever in your heart, soul and mind 24/7 and avoiding redundancy is one key to a healthy constitution.
So allow us to flip the script and bring you the sounds from the other side; a nation once our most hated enemy, now our most loyal and trusted ally. They came at us once with rifles, but the next time, they opted for guitars.
July Shower Sessions: British Invasion
It’s a simple theme. No grand unifying idea to it, other than the fact that you need to wake up in the morning and there are a lot worse ways to do that than hearing the Pretty Things, The Stones, The Beatles, The Kinks, The Who and The Yardbirds. Yeah, there’s more than a few of the usual suspects (including Van Morrison, of the lesser-known—but no less rocking—Irish Invasion), but there’s also The Smoke, The Deviants and a Procol Harum song that isn’t “Whiter Shade of Pale.”
So, step into the shower and back in time, and soak up the sounds of Vox teardrop 12-strings and pasty young men with wisdom and soul beyond their years.
It’s infinitely more pleasurable than a Russian invasion.
