Better Mornings, Shower

In So Many Words: Shower Prodigy

In So Many Words: Shower Prodigy
“I closed my eyes and realized that my true calling in life has to be to ride an electric bicycle through the Andes.”

Mornings. In Verse.

Earlier today…

I recited my To-Do List

Without missing a single item.

And hit Ms. Houston’s highest notes

in “How Will I Know.”

As I massaged conditioner onto my scalp,

I closed my eyes

and realized that my true calling in life

has to be to ride a electric bicycle through the Andes.

And start a non-profit

to save the Chiricahua Leopard Frog

from extinction.

I vowed to take more photographs.

And traced a more scenic route to work in the mornings.

As I rubbed soap across my chest

I decided that I simply must have a new coffee table.

(One of those modern ones… wood and glass.)

Then I figured out a more effective way

to lace up my boots.

‘I will call my sister this week,” I think.

‘And I will read more non-fiction.’

As I step onto the bath mat, I remember I have ten bucks in my jacket pocket from last night

…and a perfect excuse to get out of that cocktail party tonight.

Every morning

in the shower

I am a genius.
